What manhwa is this? How to find a manhwa, manhua or webtoon name from a YouTube video
Published 15 October 2026.
Short answer: recap channels rarely put the real title in the video, but the comments almost always have it. Look for someone asking "manhwa name?" and open the replies under it, or paste the link into CommentSift and it reads the comments and replies for you.
Why recaps hide the name
Manhwa recap videos and Shorts usually have a hook for a title, like "Weakest hunter gets a secret system", instead of the comic's name. Some channels leave the name out on purpose so you keep watching. A webtoon can also have two or three English names (an official one, a fan translation, and a literal translation of the Korean or Chinese title), so the name you find in one place may not match the one in the app you read on.
How to look by hand
- Open the comments and sort by Top comments.
- Look for "manhwa name?", "title pls" or "what's this called?". Tap replies under them. The answer is usually a reply, not a top comment.
- Check the description. Some channels write "Manhwa:" or "Title:" near the bottom, or pin a comment with the name.
- Still nothing? Pause on a panel, take a screenshot and search it with Google Lens. This works best on a panel with the title or a clear character close-up.
- Found a name? Search it on AniList or MangaDex. They list the other names it goes by, so you can find it in whichever app you use.
How to do it with CommentSift
- In the YouTube app, tap Share under the video (on Shorts it's the arrow on the right).
- Tap Copy link.
- Open CommentSift and tap Paste. It starts looking right away. If the Paste button doesn't work on your phone, paste the link into the box yourself and tap Find the name.
CommentSift reads the comments and the replies under them. When it finds a name, it shows the comment it came from and checks the name against AniList, MangaDex and Kitsu, including the other names a series is known by. If nobody has named it yet, it says so instead of guessing, and you can add the video to your check-back list.
CommentSift reads comments on YouTube links, from the app or a browser. TikTok and Instagram don't let apps read comments, so there you copy and paste them in: here is how to find a show's name from a TikTok.
Manhwa, manhua or webtoon?
- Manhwa are Korean comics. Most recap channels cover these.
- Manhua are Chinese comics. They often have long titles that get shortened in comments.
- Webtoon is the scrolling, full-colour format that both are often read in, and also the name of one of the apps that publishes them.
You don't need to know which one it is. CommentSift looks for all three.
