How to use CommentSift on iPhone or iPad
Published 15 October 2026.
Short answer: in the YouTube app, tap Share, then Copy link. Open commentsift.com in Safari and tap Paste. If your iPhone shows a small Paste bubble, tap it too. CommentSift then reads the comments and replies and shows you the name, with the comment it came from. There is no app to download.
Step by step
- In the YouTube app, open the Short or video you want the name of.
- Tap Share. On a Short it's the arrow on the right. On a normal video it's under the video.
- Tap Copy link.
- Open Safari and go to commentsift.com.
- Tap the Paste button inside the link box.
- Your iPhone may show a small Paste bubble right next to it. That is your iPhone asking if CommentSift may read what you copied. Tap the bubble. CommentSift starts looking right away.
It works the same on an iPad. Other browsers on iPhone, like Chrome, work too.
The Paste button didn't do anything
If you tapped somewhere else instead of the bubble, nothing is pasted. CommentSift puts the cursor in the link box for you. Then:
- Tap and hold inside the link box.
- Tap Paste in the little menu.
A YouTube link pasted this way starts the search by itself. If it doesn't, tap Find the name.
Still stuck? Copy the link again in the YouTube app. Copying anything else afterwards (a photo, some text) replaces the link.
Can I share straight from YouTube to CommentSift?
Not on iPhone or iPad. iPhones and iPads don't let websites join the Share menu, so CommentSift can't show up there, even if you add it to your home screen. Copy and paste is the way on iPhone. (On Android it can be done: here is how to add CommentSift to your Android Share menu.)
Put CommentSift on your home screen (optional)
This gives you a CommentSift icon, so you don't have to type the address each time. It is not an App Store app, and you can delete the icon like any other.
- Open commentsift.com in Safari.
- Tap the Share button (a square with an arrow pointing up). On some iOS versions it is inside the ••• menu.
- Scroll down and tap Add to Home Screen, then Add.
Your check-back list on iPhone
If nobody has named a show yet, you can add it to your check-back list, and CommentSift looks again each time you open it. The list lives only in the browser on this phone. There is no account, so it does not move to your other devices.
- The home screen icon and Safari can each keep their own list. Pick one and keep using it.
- Clearing Safari's history and website data also clears the list.
- A video that hasn't been checked for 30 days drops off the list by itself.
Watching on TikTok or Instagram instead?
TikTok and Instagram don't let apps read their comments. On the CommentSift page, open On TikTok, Instagram or another app? Paste the comments. Copy the comments from the app (the "name?" ones and their replies are enough) and paste them there.
