How to add CommentSift to your Android Share menu
Published 8 October 2026. Updated 15 October 2026.
Short answer: open CommentSift in Chrome and add it to your home screen. After that, on many Android phones CommentSift shows up when you tap Share in the YouTube app. Tap it, and CommentSift opens and starts looking for the name right away. No copy and paste.
Step 1: Add CommentSift to your phone (in Chrome)
You only do this once.
- Open the Chrome app and go to commentsift.com.
- Tap the three dots in the top-right corner of Chrome.
- Tap Add to Home screen or Install app. (The name depends on your Chrome version. Either one works.)
- Tap Install or Add to confirm.
The CommentSift icon now sits on your home screen, like an app.
Step 2: Share a video to CommentSift (in the YouTube app)
- In the YouTube app, find the video or Short you want the name of.
- Tap Share. On a normal video it's under the video. On a Short it's the arrow on the right.
- In the list of apps, tap CommentSift. If you don't see it, tap More and scroll.
- CommentSift opens with the link already filled in and starts reading the comments.
When it finds a name, it shows you the comment it came from. If nobody has named it yet, it says so instead of guessing.
CommentSift isn't in my Share menu
- Did Step 1 finish? Look for the CommentSift icon on your home screen. If it's not there, try Step 1 again.
- Give it a moment. Right after you add it, your phone may need a little time before CommentSift shows up in the Share list.
- Use Chrome. These steps are for Chrome. Other browsers may not put CommentSift in the Share menu.
- Still missing? You can always copy and paste instead (see below). It works on every phone.
On iPhone or iPad
iPhones and iPads don't let websites join the Share menu, so CommentSift can't appear there. Do this instead:
- In the YouTube app, tap Share, then Copy link.
- Open CommentSift in Safari and tap Paste.
